Most times hackers get passwords from informatoin about the person they are hacking against. This is 'social engineering'.

Forgetting that their password in their pet's names, many people will give out their pet's names in conversation or in paragraphs on their web pages. Same for kids, birthdates etc.

Protect yourself by changing your passwords and include arbitrary characters, numbers or letters. Example, your password may be Fluffy, but no hacker is going to guess that you use an arbitrary number IN THE MIDDLE like Flu8ffy or even Flu77y or even 7yffulf7. Make your passwords hard to guess and hard to hack.

I dont think changing your password will protect you from the exploit that 'raul' is using. I noticed that my profile had changed recently, on closer inspection it appeard that a clever piece of html had been put into my profile that called up a nice piece of javascript. Whenever anybody looked at my profile this javascript ran, and placed the code in their profile too (if they were logged in). So it seems to have spread like a worm. I'm not sure if this is the case because ive only spent 10 minutes looking at it and the offending code seems to be removed or the problem seems to be have fixed. Eitherway, don't panic about your password having been compromised if you were the victim of the raul exploit. Although a strong password is always recommended.
