what does plugging mean when used with engines?

Question

i am referring to a fork lift, and i have seen plugging in reference to going backwards, and also in reference to slowing the fork lift. i do not see a like reference to plug in a dictionary. thanks

Engines have spark plugs. They also have freeze plugs. Fuel lines can get plugged. You'd have to be more specific if possible.
