Evidently, you need to pay more attention to more news sources. I would recommend The Economist, the BBC, DailyMail, and DrudgeReport. CNN and FoxNews occasionally get a good story too...
The Iraqis elected them by popular vote, and they have gone against American policy and allies (like Israel) in some actions. They are clearly not a puppet government. Obviously, the US has influence since our military maintains a strong presence, and we did facilitate the open elections in which they gained office. However, this influence cannot be construed as pulling marionette strings by any stretch of the imagination if you see their independent statements and policies. In fact, many candidates we would have preferred in Iraqi offices were not elected...

If it was a puppet government, the face and shape of Iraq would be drastically different than it is now. There are daily fights going on between the diplomats of the U.S. and those of the Iraqi government...

It is just the kind of fiction BushCo wants to have to keep Iraq unstable while they plunder Iraq and the US Treasury. It will be a fun kind of gallows humor to see what version of "stay the course" they will come up with tonight.
