I'm pretty sure it depends on what game you are playing. Halo 2 for example can play online since they are releasing new 360 only maps. In theory most should work but I have no way of telling you which. Also Micrsoft has shown that Xbox Live is reverse compatible for example you can have friends on Xbox and on 360 at the same time with few limitations.(I think you can't send video)

If the game was playable on Xbox Live with the original Xbox, then yes, you can play the game online with the Xbox 360. However, the game uses the old Xbox Live system, where everything was handled by the games, and not by the console, so you have to sign in while playing the game and your Xbox Live Guide is disabled.

You can go there and type in your zip code, and see the number of units that will be released in your local stores - mostly walmart, target, ebgames, toysrus, ect...

It's looking pretty good (looking more like 50 than 100 in my area), but at the same time, the holidays are coming fast, and people get pretty rabid about shopping at this time of year - I'd be concerned with insane parents fighting over the inexpensive new video game system.

most are but first you either have to get live and download updates so that it can play them... other wise go to http://support.microsoft.com/kb/911112/en-us?sd=xbox and burn the update onto a cd and then you can up;date it that way... for a full list of games go to: http://www.xbox.com/en-US/games/backwardcompatibilitygameslist.htm
