Any songs you can think of that's been totally misunderstood by the buying public. One example being "Lovely day" about drug taking but was taken up as a charity song.

Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds is the most well known because of the LSD.

My own favourite is a real song from the 1940's called...'Who Put The Benzedrine in Mrs Murphy's Ovaltine?...It's a real song I swear!! It's by Harry (The Hipster) Gibson.

Born contained in the u . s . - Bruce Springsteen human beings imagine it really is a patriotic, professional-u . s . song even as no longer some thing would nicely be added from the reality. Even Ronald Reagan used it in his presidential marketing campaign even as he had no clue what the song become about. yet another is Pearl Necklace by way of ZZ accurate. I received't clarify the reason on that one, except to assert that it ain't about earrings.

Lyrical misunderstanding:
I knew someone who thought the 'Lord's Prayer' went:

'Our Father with a chart in heaven.'

just can imagine God pointing at a big pie chart on a cloud - just love it.

Conceptual misunderstanding:

It always confuses me when people seem to think Bob Dylan is being complementary in 'Just Like A Woman' when really he's slagging her off.

The only one I can think of right now is Carly Simon's "You're So Vain" (which, by the way, I can't stand) Many people have speculated about who the song was written about, but no one knows for sure. Carly Simon dated Warren Beatty for a long time, then they broke up and she came out with that song. So, lots of people say that it's about him, but Simon herself has never come out and said who it was about.

I remember UB40's "I Marie and Donna", when it should have been "Ivory Madonna".
Also "Tim the Ghekko", instead of "In the Ghetto"

There are a lot of Vicky Pollards out there.

I would wager that many enthusiasts for Little Richard's 'Good Golly Miss Molly' do not know the meaning of 'Miss Molly'.
