I have 4 slots for ram. I am using a pc2700 512 GB 2.5C in one. I am either going to pick a a 512 pc3200 or a 1 gb pc3200 kit(2x512). If I buy the pc3200, my system will downgrade the speed 2700 automatically. But if I had just pc3200 it would run 400mhz instead of 333 (matches up the lowest ram module

bottom line is I can pick a 512 alot cheaper than a 1gb kit (throwing out the pc2700). But will I really see any speed gain on my 3d games (other than capacity increased speed)

I have a 256 MB PCI-e video card already.

If you have a 256 PCI-e video card and your computer is fairly new then usually most motherboards support 400mhz DDR ram, I would just go to Newegg.com and buy a ram kit that is at least 1GB if not 2GB, my computer is using 4 GB of ram.

It depends what the Front Side Bus speed of your processor is. If it is only 333mhz, you will probably not see any performance increase because the RAM can only go at 333mhz anyway because of the processor. I would just stick with the PC2700 if that's what you already have.

There won't be any difference. The speed is just what the memory is capable of. You're motherboard is what determines how fast it runs at, and it's not going to go any faster just because you put different memory in.
