Shame you don't like AFI. They've made seven albums and countless EPs during their 15 years career. You could give their old stuff a chance.

The Automatic is my favorite new band. They're not known in the US yet; I discovered them whilst on vacation in London this summer. Sounds like they'd be what you're looking for. Very hooky Brit indie band.

she wants revenge ripped off the sound of interpol, who owe quite a bit of their sound to joy division. So check out interpol for sure, and joy division if you want to find out how it all got started.
