I bought some hooks and hung them on the wall for my bracelets and necklaces so they don't get tangled up. I hung them right over my dresser by the jewelry box, where I keep earrings and pins.

Since I collect jewelry, this is always a problem for me. I have one of those wall key holder things (it's pretty big) that I use to hold necklaces. That way, I can see them easily and they won't tangle with each other.
I made an earring holder out of blank canvas. It's the type you paint on that already has a wood frame on the back. You can get this at an art store for a few bucks. I simply punched holes in it with a thumbtack and stick my earrings in there.

I use small reusable zip lock bags. I keep sets, or like colors or styles together. I usually have things I like to wear together so I keep those in one bag, and more formal things in another etc. They are always readily available and easy to see. Very delicate things or things easily scratched get wrapped in tissue [toilet tissue or facial] and put into a bag. I have a drawer in my dresser for them. One could use a plastic box or other container. Even costume jewelry needs to be taken proper care of, not to be destroyed, and can be used for years this way. I have costume jewelry in my family for over 50 years I have kept this way. If you are a teen, your grand daughter might love them. My granddaughter loves the things I have kept for her using this method. The things that cost pennies new are now worth many dollars.

I'm using those cheap clear plastic drawer things you can get at any dollar store. Some of them have dividers. A lot cheaper than a jewelry box, serves the same purpose, and doesn't look too bad.

for necklaces/rings get those plastic/clay hands that and put one necklace/ring on each finger.
for stray hair pins get a clump of blue/glue tack and puch them in each time you find one.
for studs it is usually a good idea to keep the plastic thing they come on and then if you have a lot of them (like me) put them into a cute tin.
for scrunchies get a cylinder shapped container (pringles? chocolate? perfume) and put them on them on it. (wrap it nice paper though)
OOOORRRR
just get a jewllry box which has divisions for every type of jewllry

I bought jewelry inserts from a jewelry supplier. They are velvet over thin plastic. I cut mine to fit my jewelry box, my earrings are now in their own little tray. Try "Findingking" on eBay, cheaper is and "info@frescos.com" try "frescos.com"
