1. minimum opening deposit required by the bank
2. two forms of ID like a drivers license, passport, or state issued ID & some form of 2nd ID that they accept. this may vary, so ask 1st.
3. Your application form--- on this you will need your current info like a SSN, current address. You need to SHOW where you live. If you ID has your address from 2 moves ago, get it changed so that everything matches.
They will also run a check systems & credit check. The check systems will show if you have had bad accounts in the past & will keep you from opening one.

Not all banks do credit checks.
Some do credit check for both the checking account and debit card
Some do credit check for the debit card
some just check checksystem or telecheck to see if you have written a bad check.
Then you will need money to deposit into the account.

Unless you are cooking meth in a trailer park and have an all cash business, or the unibomber type living in isolation you probably don't need one. In either case you will not live long anyways to worry about it. I suppose you can manage a real basic survival day-to-day life style, but you will not have much stability long term. You will have to cash your pay checks all the time, you will have to pay bills by money order, you will have to run around and make cash payments to places you owe money. Not a fun way to live.

most places make you put in an initial amount of money, it varies from place to place. And they are asking for 2 forms of identification and proof of residence (i.e. a bill).
