Hello, I want to change my shocks to KYB GR-2 in my 1997 Maxima. The auto repair shop wanted to charge me 520 dollars. Is that a fair price? Any comments are welcome. Thank you.

if you are handy you can rent a spring compressor from a tool rental place and do it yourself. email me and i will walk you through it and i can get more info on exactly what you want to do. btw getting the three nuts at the top of the rear struts are a pain in the a**.

The front suspension on a Maxima uses McPherson Struts.

The rear is a beam axle with Shocks, not struts. The difference being shocks are not a suspension locating link.

The price is quite good. Take it and run.

You need a spring compressor for this job (if you don't want to get killed) so if you shop around, you will get a better feel of what is the current rate for this job.

Your vehicle has struts not shocks. This is a fair price for struts.
