The company have to allow you paid time off to attend ante natal classes, midwife appointments, hospital apointments etc.
You will get 6 months maternity pay (if you take 6 months off - you are entitled to take up to 12 months but will onlt get paid for the first 6 months.) When you do go back you may be entitled to working tax and child tax credits.

This is for the US...
The Family Leave Act requires that employees are given 12 weeks per year without firing them. If their job is eliminated, then the employer has to put you in an equal one. You still have to follow company policy and take vacation and sick time for the 12 weeks or go on leave without pay. Some employers give 3 weeks with pay (like mine), but aren't required to. In Sweden and som eEuropean countries, they get a year with pay!

Also go to your local Job centre, and ask for the same thing and information on benefits, or ask to see and adviser.. congrats on your job. also just in case you don't know, your wages and benefits/perks that your company is offering. Also your maternity leave, just read the category. speak to HR after checking your local Job centre, (I think) get some advice and info from your local Citizens advice bureau or law centre.

Depends what you are earning. Maybe Tax credits. Possibly other benefits as well. Try your local benefits office.
