Depends on how important the friendship was to me and what they did. Certain things are deal breakers to me.

There are stages in friendships and most friends start out as acquaintenances. Depending upon the change and how yu truly feel about it, you could just lower their status from friend to associate. Reason being is depending upon the change, if it is a negative change, you may need to let them lose but still be available if they decide change again for the better.

You need to say how they've changed for a good answer. But personally, I seldom turn my back on anyone. Sometimes people changing just means the friendship changes with it. Much depends on whether the change is good or bad for them.

That would depend on whether they were still nourishing the friendship in a healthy way. If the change has made them someone who causes you unhappiness, then it's best to say good-bye.
I've made the mistake of continuing a friendship out of past loyalties and that turned toxic. It's just not worth it.

it all depends on the change and how it affects the dynamics of the friendship. if the change strays into areas that you are not comfortable with then best to explain it and then drop the friendship. as for happening to me One was a friend that got religion, and continually found fault with me as I was not a good christian in her eyes. The other was a dear friend that found that drugs were a lot more fun than I was, unless I joined him. needless to say these two are no longer my friends

Depends on the change, friendships change with time and vary according to our necessities. If your friend has changed negatively and that affects you, try and help them, but if it's imminent then get rid of them. You should keep only the positive things in your life because you deserve no less, anything negative will hinder your very existence. Yes it has happened to me, saddening but it's just part of life.

Going through the same thing... sort of. I'm the one that has changed, and everyone around me is stagnant. I held on for a couple of years, aggravated everytime I saw them, and finally just shrunk back into the wallpaper. It's lonely sometimes, but much less irritating.

First you try to accept them. If the friendship adds value to your life, terrific.
Otherwise, it's time to move on but always be honest and polite.
Treat others as you would have them treat you.
