I have often wondered if we are born with certain attractions to "whatever". Or if upbringing comes into play when we like something a lot. For example, I am a guy. And I have a big pantie fetish. I collect them, but don't care about wearing them. just like to look at them like any other hobbie. I have a female friend that says she has a pantie fetish too. So we go pantie shopping, and I buy her new panties. And she gives me the ones that she is going to throw out anyway to me. It's a good arrangement. I just wonder what makes people like this?

I do not think that we're born with a predilection towards any fetish. Fetishes, by existing, designate something beyond the norm. Your genetic coding doesn't have a memory of panties, because panties are a manmade invention. This is true of any fetish. People aren't programmed at birth to be kinky. They just learn it. Keep in mind that probably everyone in the world has something that they associate with sex or sexuality more than anything else. For instance, you don't hear about people with a "butt fetish" or "breast fetish" because these are considered "normal" interests. Yet, neither is actually involved in the act of sexual intercourse. So, how do you judge what is a fetish and what isn't?

I have a spanking fetish. I enjoy having an attractive young lady across my knees for a spanking, whether it's playful, sensual, erotic, disciplinary or otherwise. (I've actually categorized spankings into six subsets, but that doesn't need to be reiterated here.) I can remember, as a child of like 9 or 10, fantasizing about the neighborhood girls being spanked by their parents. These fantasies always included nudity, long before I should have had sexual thoughts. I didn't actually realized that I had this interest in spanking, however, until I found a spanking magazine in the adult section of a used bookstore. Now, I go to spanking parties across the country. Can I explain why? Nope.

Why does a person have favorites? Why is there something like comfort food or retreats, preferred places of peace or enjoyment when things get hectic or difficult?

At some point, someone may confuse a prop with the enjoyment of the actor. The pleasure attachment gets attached to the wrong thing, a thing indeed, not the person with the thing (shoe, dress, color, etc.). It is like a song eliciting a memory. Then we obsess on it.

We do it in other things as well. I know someone that remembers Elvis, she got a scarf from him in a show. Sometimes you might find her simply holding the scarf and smiling or wearing it when she is feeling happy that things are going her way. It is a physical attachment to something that brings an emotional pleasure.

I guess it is because as humans we have quite complicated brains, and so our attractions and ways of finding something "hot" are complicated too. We dont meet in spring just to reproduce, but it is much more complex. I dont think there is a cause for that, its just human nature I guess. Panties give the hint of what lies beneath and the anticipation and imagination make it even sexier and arousing. For instance I prefer seeing a man in underwear than naked. Naked is too cynical and everything is out for you to see, while underwear hides a surprise and allows your mind to imagine things. Sex in not between out legs, its in the brain. Thats what I think.
