Copernicus (for one).
And he wasn't wrong.
According to our current understanding of the universe being finite but without border, geometrically speaking any given point in the universe can be considered at the center of the universe for mathematical or modelling purposes.

Before Galilio virtually the entire world believed the earth was the center of the universe, the geocentric theory. Aristotle was the major authoritative source on the subject and unfortunately the church was highly in favor of the idea. Galilio, supported by astronomical observations, introduced the heliocentric theory that everyting revolved about the Sun, a much better theory but still quite inadequate.

*heavy sigh*
You're confusing universe with solar system.
NOBODY has said that the sun is at the center of the "universe." Many people said it is at the center of our solar system. Galileo and Copernicus both theorized that it was. A young man named Johannes Kepler proved it.

i belive Coprinicus wouldve been correct if he was using Topology. That being said every point in the universe is the center.
Correct me if im wrong but is there another mathematical theory (or theorm) outside of Topology that proves this? If so what is it called?

Nicolas Copernicus stated solar replaced into midsection of the image voltaic device. He did no longer positioned up "De revolutionibus orbium coelestium" till purely till now his loss of life, and he replaced right into a cleric interior the church. no longer something happened to him because of the fact his thought went unchallenged for years, because it replaced into generally unknown. Tycho Brahe greater on his artwork yet made differences to it, and that they weren't ultimate suited. He have been given into political concern along with his king because of the fact of alternative concerns. Johannes Kepler used Brahe's measurements of the planets between the celebs to come back up along with his elliptical orbits around the solar. That defined differences in motions of Mercury and Mars. Galileo Galilei replaced right into a scientist who used a telescope to work out the stages of Venus. they does no longer be considered if Venus went around the earth. That proved Venus went around the solar. He observed moons of Jupiter orbiting like a miniature image voltaic device. That bolstered the Copernican thought of a heliocentric image voltaic device. Galileo wrote "The Starry Messenger" approximately his observations. Then he wrote "talk touching directly to the two chief international structures" that positioned the church and the known public in a undesirable image whilst in comparison with himself and the real image voltaic device suggestions. purely then did the church get on his case approximately heresy. At no time did those astronomers talk a center of the universe, in view that that concept replaced into unknown to them. all of them positioned the celebs and different distant products in an exceedingly super exterior sphere around the image voltaic device. They on no account known because it a universe with tips from that call.

Kepler didn't *prove* the planets orbit the sun - he showed that planetary motions could be described by his 3 laws, but there was no underlying theory and no proof.

it's been said long ago, when scientists thaught the universe was somehow limited...the first who said this was nicolaus copernicus, but in order not to be acused and executed by order from the catholic church as heretic, he later lied and said it was all maked up..some years later, galileo galilei said the same thing, but he ended up burned to death as punishment ordered by the same ruling church, under the accusation of heretism
