I haven't had a best friend in nearly 20 years and I honestly don't feel the need for one. I'm not really close to anyone but family and my spouse. I don't understand why "everyone else" hangs around with their friends. What are they getting out of that relationship that I might be missing?

If you find out the answer to that question then let me know!! I am only close to my family and my husband. He IS my best friend. I really don't miss all the B..S... that comes with having "friends". So far I don't feel I am missing out at all. I have everything I want right here.......without all the he said she said....

By nature, man is a social being.

Everybody should have a special close friend of the same sex. This is not a relative or a spouse but somebody you can tell almost anything to and not feel shy about it. It has to be the same sex as you because the other way doesn't work. I hate the corny terms for this special friend, but I'm sure you know what I mean.

I can't tell you where to look or how to find this person, but I can say if you don't have somebody like this to talk to and confide in, you're missing out. I acknowledge that you may not think its important, and I can see why you would think this. But, when/if you find a special friend, you'll see that you were wrong.
