Why is Mae afraid to go to jail in chapters 16-20??? Please help if you can!

She is afraid to go to jail because they will end up hanging her and realize that she can't die therefore putting the rest of her family in danger.

Your local library should be able to get it for you for no cost through the interlibrary loan system. The interlibrary loan system is where a library can borrow a book from another library and then call you when it comes in. You pick it up read it and bring it back to your library and they ship it back to the library they got it from. The only thing is you have to bring it back on time. Some libraries also have a code (mine does) to a website where, if you have a library card, you can log on, enter the code and your libary card number and check a list of audio books and download them to your computer to burn to a cd to listen to. Go to your library and ask them about it.
