Im doing a project and I need to run a wire just through the top of a wooden dowel. Is there any household tools (hopefully without having to buy anything) that I can use to make a tiny hole?

You could heat a strong needle over a candle and burn a hole through if you dont have a drill (which would be best) - just keep a glass of water handy to dip dowel in incase too much burning goes on.

Hi:

All you need is a a hammer, a punch , two drill bits one smaller than the other, a cordless drill and a v block or someone to hold the dowel while you are drilling it :

1. Mark the hole where you want to put the hole to be { be sure to leave some space from the ends of the dowel about 1/4 inch at the least}

2 Use a hammer and a punch, Then set the point end of the punch on the mark you made and lightly tap it with the hammer

3.Put in your cordless drill put the small bit in the chuck and tighten it down. Than mount the dowel in the V- block or have someone hold the dowel. Start drill at the mark and continque drilling it until it come out at the other side Than take out the drill bit and replace it with the slighty bigger one in the chuck and tighten it down, and redrill the same hole until the drill bit comes out again put your wire in and your done

Depending on the dimension of the dowel rod you could use a screw and screw it through the dowel rod and then run the wire. If you do have a drill use a small bit and drill the hole think about the dimension of the wire the hole has to be a little bigger to go through. Good Luck

A thin nail, or a needle, held with pliers and twisted back and forth, might do the job.

You may need to turn the dowel, instead of the nail.
