Bush, Cheney and their inner circle created the greatest tsunami of lies in American history to manipulate the American people into supporting the war and occupation.
But Bush and Cheney did much more than exaggerate, distort and even lie.
They knowingly and deliberately manufactured false intelligence which they called -- still call to this day -- “faulty intelligence” – and to this day they insist the “faulty” intelligence, that Hussein was a terror threat to America behind 9/11, involved with Al Qaeda, had WMD and nuclear capability et al – all of which they made up themselves, and all of which they whole world now knows was never true, was given to them by the CIA, FBI, etc. – as the only way they could deceive the American people that they were invading Iraq to fight the war on terror and hide their real motive to make Iraq an American oil colony.

You are so wrong in your assumptions that this is a patently false question. They did not manipulate anyone or lie. The administration chose to act upon intelligence provided by many sources both domestic and international (the Brits and French intelligence corroborating a threat). There is an obvious reason why the US Congress overwhelmingly approved funding this war when they saw the same intelligence the President did. It was the only responsible action to take to protect the United States based on the perceived threat.
Regardless of whether or not that threat to the United States was substantiated upon arrival in Iraq, there was overwhelming justification to go there. Iraq violated the post-Desert Storm ceasefire (that's all the justification we really needed). Saddam Hussein disregarded and violated UN resolutions for 12 years in defiance of the international community. And when given a final ultimatum to come clean or face the consequences, he failed to respond in time or at all to satisfy the international community's demands.
If the police hear screams coming from inside your house, then they are justified in forcing entry to make sure everyone's okay. If they then found out that nobody was ever in danger, then that wouldn't change the fact they were still justified in entry. The US had reasonable justification for further escalation of Iraq operations that had been underway since 1991. It frankly doesn't matter what we found after getting into Iraq because we had "probable cause" to enter...
Now, I agree with most of the country that there were several major strategic mistakes after entering Iraq, but that doesn't mean we can change history and play the blame game forever. Let's deal with the matter at hand. Take the gloves off, clean out the cancer of the "insurgency," and then get our troops out as soon as they can emerge victorious.

Well, if what you say is true, and Bush and Co. did and still do lie, they wouldn't be the first world leaders to do so. Democrats, Republicans, Americans, and the whole world is full of leaders who have lied for whatever reason.
After 9/11, Americans were pissed, and Bush did whatever he did for whatever reason, and unless you were there working close to him, no one will ever know the real reason behind it. So, now is the time to move on, and figure out exactly what the proper course of action is, not worry about who did what and why and wah wah wah.
And I say this as someone who did not vote for Bush.

Politicians are an unscrupulous lot mostly, with rare exception. They deceived the American people with outright lies, because, to put it simply, it is in their nature, and the average citizen’s credulity and vulnerability to fear make them easy targets for misguidance. It is a fundamental principle in nature that an organism will generally pursue the path of least resistance when striving to achieve an objective. The American people are a gullible group and offered little resistance or questioning to the absurd propositions put forth by the Bush/Cheney administration. Quite frankly, if any of the American people feel betrayed now, which judging by poll numbers they do, then they deserve it for it is their stupid complicity that has lead us to the state of affairs we currently are in.

Americans need to stop pushing the blame and SOLVE THE PROBLEM. All the bitching and moaning in the world isn't going to help anything. Plus, don't forget that hindsite is 20/20.

Merely telling the public about mass graves wouldn't have done the trick. So they exaggerated a bit. Lighten up, the Draft isn't back-yet!

~sigh~ if they were given the intellegence but someone else how could they have manufactured it? I wish we could pleeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaaasssssssssseeeeeee get over this and focus on fixing the problem instead of pointing fingers. But hey thats what we do here in America, we play the blame game instead of focusing on the bigger problems at hand.
