The prices on these cars is drastically different. The Porsche being $90,200 and the Range Rover being $69,535......

But if you're interested in a comparison of specs side by side, check out this link to carsdirect.com:

Hope that helps.

The Porsche Cayenne Turbo performs like a true sports car, and it goes off road to boot(Lot's of them sold in the Middle East as well hauling serious you-know-what through the harshest conditions).

The Range Rover is a great ride, but the Porsche is just light years ahead(and better quality too!)

But hey...if you can afford either of these, you can probably have BOTH!!

LOL at the guy mentioning the SRT8 Jeep. the cayenne turbo is as fast as the outgoing model of M3. the Jeep has a large engine without the chassis or suspention to do anything with it. and the inteior and ride quality is just worthless.

of the 2 cars you mentioned, both are very luxurious (i prefer the cayennes interior though), and both ride pretty well. The cayenne turbo is the faster vehicle though, especially in the hands of a capable driver. Both brands are also famous and have good status if that matters to you (it doesnt to me).

i would say go with the cayenne turbo. My neighbor has one and its brutally sweet.

Just a note thuogh, this is coming from a die hard porsche fan, who owns a 996 GT2 and 930 turbo.

edit: also, the cayenne IS NOT made by VW. it shares its chassis with the toureg. everything else was made and designed by porsche. Porsche also did much of the initial work on the frame.

edit for mr magnum SRT8: its good to know that the SUV can get to 60 faster, which is the all encompassing performance test for all vehicles. Shut up. The 911 GT3 RS is out accelerated to 60 by a stupid number of fast cars (note the couple hundred grand, outrageous hp SLR), yet is one of the fastest cars around the nurburgring in the world. Oops. Not to mention the fact that you used 2 different sources, which could mean one was on a concrete street, and one on a asphalt drag strip with slicks on it. OOPs again. when you find me a laptime for the SRT8 thats as fast as an M3, please let me know. porsche has never made a car for the drag strip. always for the track.

and instead of bench racing the 2, maybe you should get some hands on experience. I have driven both a cayenne turbo, and the jeep (not the SRT8, admittedly), and the cayenne rides better, handles far far better, is much more comfortable, and overall is in a completely different league.

this guy clearly isnt looking for a motor on an underproduced, overpowered chassis and suspention, with the fit and finish of a yugo. hes looking for a classy, fast, comfortable SUV.

The Porsche and Rover both have poor reliability. The Turbo is faster and more expensive, while the Rover is out of the Cayenne's league (Rover officials admit this) and a bit more comfortable. I'd get the Turbo-I'm a Porsche fan and Range Rover is owned by FORD!!!!!

I have "heard" great things about Cayenne, yet have not test driven it. Let me say a few things about RRovers, they have always have had quality issues. They are not great cars for the money. I knew a guy that sold Mercedes, audis and Rovers . He told me to avoid them. Just last night at a car convention I talked to a guy who cant wait to sell his. It is not under warranty and has many issues. This is with rovers of 2004-2006 i cannot speak for 2007. Porsche all the way

Both Cayenne and Range rovers are very unreliable and problematic. The Cayenne has better on road performance and the Range Rover is probably more luxurious and has better off road performance and good on road performance. More celebrities and the queen of England... have the range rover.

Cayenne is more reliable than Range Rover. Cayenne definitely is better when it comes to handling and braking. Range Rover has more space as far as I know.

The Cayenne turbo is a much more capable vehicle in all respects. Handling, on-road performance.

I used to own a Jeep. Hemi or not, what does all that hp mean if it's always with the mechanic getting some defect fixed. Plus its handling is so unsophisticated, it drove like a slapped-together kit.

There is no comparison. The Porsche is a much better car, hands down. Rovers are notoriously problematic!

The Jeep Grande Cherokee SRT8 will out perform both of these SUV's with it's 6.1L Hemi and 420HP.

***EDIT***

Kyle M: you should actually read some articles on the Jeep SRT8 AWD. It clearly states it outperforms the Porsche Cayenne Turbo S! As well a bargin over that overpriced Cayenne by more than Double!

Jeep SRT8 - Base Price - $45,000 US
0 to 60 mph - 4.7 secs
1/4mile - 12.8 secs @108mph
Actual time slip: below in link

Porsche Cayenne Turbo - Base Price - $115,000 US
0 to 60 mph- 4.8secs
1/4mile - 13.6sec @103 mph
*Road & Track

Grand Cherokee SRT8 is the fastest SUV (0-60mph) under $100,000.

A quote you might like for some thought Kyle M:
"Grand Cherokee SRT8 accelerates from 0-60 mph in less time than Porsche Cayenne Turbo.§" - Road & Track

Right Left: You should actually take a Jeep SRT8 out for test drive they are nothing close to the older style cherokees you probably drove. The 6.1L Hemi will not have the issues like the 5.2L/4.7L V8's or 4.0L inline 6 in past generation jeeps. As well, the SRT8 version has higher quality and performance suspension and Brembo brake compenents! You should at least take a drive in a SRT8 model and a 5.7L Hemi model and compare before you open your yap!
