How many are there depends on how long it has been since you cleared them. I run a little program call CleanUp. I use it every time I log off. I have never had a problem with it.

Open "Control Panel", then open Internet Options. Under the General Tab, click "Delete Files." When that box opens up, click the box that says, Delete all offline content also". When you're done with that, Click "Delete Cookies" also.
Don't forget to run your version of spyware detection software once a week to quarantine any dangerous stuff and you might want to run "Defragment" once in a while to optimize your PC/
Good luck.
