well because 1st - your PC can't see it as a "flash" or "hard drive", so ya gotta use their software to copy anything. 2nd - because of the software, you can't use it as a means to transfer files back and forth like a flash drive. 3rd - you gotta pretty much use Itunes to get vids or music on it. So your basically SOL if ya don't want to pay .99 cents a download with an Ipod. Never bought one, never will....don't waste your money. I use an archos 604...ipods performance is not even close. especially for vids, go out and buy a Creative, Sandisk, or Archos instead. The creatives come with FM for same price, and theres 20 other good, cheaper or free places to download files instead of itunes.

If you have any idea how to use iTunes or a computer, you should be able to figure out how to get music and videos onto your iPod without purchasing anything through iTunes. You can use other software to download music and videos (legally or illegally) and import them into iTunes to be downloaded into an iPod.

I used three different mp3 players before I moved into my current iPod. Two made by Creative and one made by Olympus. I can honestly say that the iPod is the best of the bunch. If nothing else, it's a lot easier to get accessories for it (like a car charger which comes in handy when you want to wire everything into your car...like I did).

And another thing...you can transfer files to and from an iPod, but it takes a little more research than you might be willing to do.

Thanks for the spam though.

1st. that means you didn't enable hard drive storage. (makes it a portable hard drive.
2nd. you can use it like a flash drive, as covered above.
3rd. you have to use itunes, but you can get your music from anywhere, legal or not, by dragging and dropping it. and there is a ton of wma to itunes software. also you say you've never had one, so your opinion is null and void. also no illegal place is good, you pay the price in your computer's blood with spy ware, viruses, and other nasty's.
I have nothing against other mp3 players (i love em) but don't spam when your wrong.

Well let's put it like this DJ, I'm reporting you because this isn't a question and everything you just wrote made absolutely no sense. I have a ipod shuffle and I download music from my cd's and from limewire and have no problems at all. So you're wrong I'm right, end of story.
