No, they were not 'fired.' In fact General Casey was promoted.

"President George W. Bush said he'll nominate General George Casey, currently the top commander of U.S. forces in Iraq, to be the U.S. Army's new chief of staff."

The 'Chief Of Staff' is the highest ranking officer in the US Army.

He took out Rumsfield when he didnt agree with Bush's strategy... i know that. Possibly some of the commanders in Iraq... only 2 more years until hes out! Hoorah!
