Most heating cable splices have to be made using specific crimp barrels and combinations of insulting tapes or media. Any idea of the manufacturer?? You may find a tag of some kind on the COLD LEAD cable going into the electrical panel. Is the thermostat generic, or could it be the same as as the cable manufcturer...some use their own brand of stat. IF IT WERE ME......I'd leave the repairs to a pro.

good luck.......and be safe

First, turn off the system, which includes electric supply and fluid supply.

if fluid based, you'll need to drain and store fluid.

it depends on just how the system was laid in place

if electric in a bed of concrete or filler base, you would have to fracture the bed a bit at a time. goal would be to expose the cut.

if wire, then use a splice for that wire type.

for fluid systems, splice with proper tubing

in both cases I would NOT back fill hole permanently, rather square the hole, make a spacer, and cover. bond cover to spacer and then bond that assembly to floor.

that will allow easy repair, if needed later

kinda of simplified, but that is the brunt of it.

Hope this helped

This isn't something that you just splice back together.

You need to identify the make/model fo your underfloor heater and buy a repair kit from them. I'm just warning you now, this is going to be a pain in the butt to get to, but the repair itself isn't difficult.

If it's just one cable, you could reconnect it. You must put in an electrical box so the connection is enclosed. You also should use approved wire nuts or connectors.
