The answer is we did NOT COME FROM monkeys... we share a common ancestor with all primates. Monkeys are still around because we took divergent evolutionary paths millions of years ago.. You might as well ask "If dogs came from wolves, then why are there still wolves around?" Or "If domestic cats came from wild cats, then why are there still wild cats around? Or "If marine iguanas came from regular iguanas, why are there stil regular iguanas around?
.....Do you get it now?? Do you see the faulty logic surrounding this most frequently asked question on YA...

Animals evolve at different rates. There are studies that indicate lower testosterone levels speed up evolution. So if you have monkeys that live in an area with out predators they will evolve faster then the ones that live in danger all of the time.

Here, think of evolution like multi-racial children. If you have a Polish man and a Chinese woman have a child then you have a Chinese-Polish baby. It doesnt affect any of the polish babies or Chinese babies. Evolution happens when you combine the qulities of different species to form a different species.
Look at dogs, there are so many different dog breeds because of evolution, dog breeding is evolution. Because you breed a dalmation and a pug doesnt make the pugs go away and the dalmations go away, it just adds to the number of breeds, instead of two, there are three.

Imagine a tree. Monkeys are one branch. Humans are a completely different branch. We just have the same roots.

If people in the USA came from Africa, Mexico, South America and Europe, to name a few, why do we still have all these other nationalities around? Think first; then you save yourself the embarrassment of an ill-posed question.

2 things:
a) We are more closely related to apes than monkeys
but nit picking aside....
b) Today's apes came from the same common ancestor that we did... we didn't come from the apes of today. Whatever that common ancestor was isn't around today.

Good question- it mainly is based on the fact if you truly believe in "evolution" or "creation".. But scientists have said evolution occured from the ape, I believe if that's the case then some evolved and others didn't ..Just as if some flowers bloom and other's don't..

Those are all the stupid monkeys who were too dumb to evolve. Just kidding. Good question, though.
