I used them for a very short time but took them out. I didn't want to take the chance that my son would get stuck up against them. I decided to get a breathable mesh bumper. I got mine online at Amazon.com but I think they have them at www.babiesrus.com as well.

I understand why some might say that bumper pads are not safe for newborns. I used a sleep positioner that kept my son in place and when he started rolling I removed it. If I had not used bumper pads he would have hit his little head so many times in the past six months. You should always make sure that the strings are firmly tied (in knots not bows) and remove a bumper if a string is missing. Check often to make sure that the ties have not broken or been pulled loose. Also realize that once a child begins to roll his/her SIDS risk is greatly reduced (because they have the muscle control to move if air flow is constircted). Best of luck to you and your child.

They're supposedly not safe in terms of the whole SIDs risk factor. I found that without a bumper my daughter got a big bump on her head from not having one while she was playing in her crib--I guess that's why they call them bumpers. So---I figured at that point--because she was actively playing, could turn her head, get up on all fours, etc...the risk of SIDS was lessened so it was best to have the bumper in there. We really didn't have her in a crib until she was too big for her co-sleeper so we kept the bumper in the crib just to have a cute nursery, LOL!

It's all a bunch of bull crap just like half of everything else those stupid pamphlets say. Bumper pads have been around alot longer than probably the person who wrote the pamphlet is old. People freak out too much when it come to newborns. It's not rocket science. Just take it one day at a time and let your mom and grandma give you advice.

Bumpers are risk-free as quickly as toddler is powerful sufficient to tug their face out of something they could have rolled into at the same time as drowsing. at 4 months previous he must be in basic terms superb. bear in mind as quickly as he starts off status it's time to take it off so he would not use it as a fashion of stepping as much as recover from the crib rail!

They are fine as long as they are installed properly. As long as they aren't loose, none of the strings are in his reach, ect. then they are okay to use.
