I am taking Robitussin and drinking green tea. What else helps increase the amount of cm? I don't have as much as I used to in my twenties. I am 31 and since 30 have noticed a decrease. What else can I do? Is there a prescription the doctor can give me?

Drinking lots of water will help a lot.

Make sure the Robitussin you are taking is the kind with guaifenesin in it.

The recommended dose for improving cervical mucus is two teaspoons (200 mg) taken orally three times per day. Recommended dosage is two teaspoons (200 mg) taken orally three times per day. If mucus still appears thick, you can take as the maximum dosage as listed on the label of the cough medicine. Water intake should be increased to encourage cervical mucus production and a full glass should take with each dose of guaifenesin.

If you don't have any luck producing cervical mucus on your own, you should look into Preseed. It is a sperm friendly lubricant designed for women trying to conceive.

**FYI--Hasse John--Robitussin is over the counter not prescription. Also, progesterone would dry up cervical mucus. Estrogen is what stimulates cervical mucus production.

**Another edit.....Mucinex and Robitussin are the EXACT same thing--guaifenesin

First, mucous needs water. So make sure you are well hydrated. Something as simple as drinking water and making sure you're well hydrated has improved CM. Second, baby carrots have been known to improve CM quality because of the alkaline in them. So, start snacking. As with anything, this may or may not work for you. Some women swear by it and others had no success. Either way, staying hydrated is good for you for a number of other reasons, so drink water anyway. The other thing to remember is that sometimes CM stays up in the cervix where it originates, so just because you don't see it, doesn't mean it's not there. Good luck.

Why Robitussin? I would suggest that you avoid prescriptions. You might check the book (prescription for nutritional healing) by the Balch's available at many health food stores. There are many herbs that help to balance hormones. Panax Ginseng is foremost, but there are others that help some. Maybe a progesterone cream would help. We live in a world flooded with estrogen mimics.
