Could it be that we just don't know ourselves all that well? Or is it a form of living in denial?

Please don't take it so personally. I just mean a great deal of people I observe do this from time to time.

Simply put, things are easier said than done. I think it has to do with the fact that we're all just trying to find our way in the world, trying to figure out who we are. Perhaps we don't know ourselves as well as we should because as a society we tend to get wrapped up in other people's business, the news, bills, work, and so forth. It's human nature, I think, to rebel against that which confines us, and so we may do things that go against what we say because of that. This is what causes so much conflict in much of the world...we are simply imperfect. I wouldn't worry on it too much :)

Sometimes I revert back to things that I have previously spoken out on, but I don't consider it a contradiction to do so, only an opportunity to see if my opinion on the matter has possibly changed.

May be you simply fail to do what you say that you are going to do or give advice that you may find sound but fail to practice.

because sometimes we don't have conviction on what we say and the worst thing is sometimes we tend to do things the opposite way...
