Is this new or existing construction? That will make a difference. I'd probably charge $2 per square foot for new and $3+ for a retro-fit.

This would be a standard without many extras.

For a new home this size I normaly pay $3000-$4500. For rewiring an old home it would likely be higher. $20 per square foot of home would be $20,000+ That seems way out of line.
