I put a similar question last week but I need a more detailed answer.

You can't make a CD writable, unless it is a rewritable disk, in which case you erase it using a CD writing software, such as Nero. But, if a disk in simply CD-R, recordable, then once you write something on it, it just stays there and you can never erase it.
Al this has to do with the way the disk is made.

Unlike floppy discs or VHS tapes, you can't record over a music or data CD. Instead, you must buy special CD-Rs (CD-Recordable), which allow you to save (or "burn") files onto them.

You can buy 50 CD-Rs on sale for around $8. But $14 is a decent price.

Once you have a CD-R, put it in your CD-RW drive, open the drive folder (D: or whatever) and drag files onto it. WinXP makes backing up files onto a CD-R really easy.

u cant make a cd writeable you can buy a CDRW it is writeable and erasable just buy those and download w/e u want and even erase it if u want
