Supermarkets get frozen food packed in dry ice and will often sell you some. Industrial gas supply places usually sell it too, though maybe not to you.

In any case, you have a better chance of persuading them to sell you some if you show up prepared to handle the stuff - heavy gloves and a cooler chest will work. And don't drive for long with a car full of dry ice, you'll suffocate.

yeah... I don't think they sell dry ice to the average joe anymore...

Try liquor stores and grocery stores. A lot of them will have it.
