You could go weeks before going into labor. It's so exciting to find out you are dilated, but then you could still end up going another few weeks. Your body starts to dilate very slowly in preparation for labor. Some people who are on their 3rd or 4th child dilate and then go into labor fast but if this is your first child, it could be a while. Don't worry. It will happen eventually.

I went to the doctor and was not dilated at all. 4 days later I was in labor and got to the hospital was 3 cm dilated. I was fullly dilated within the hour and had my baby 2 1/2 (YES 2 1/2) hours later. It varies with everyone. Also, if you notice spotting in your underwear (from your mucus plug softening) it is another sign that you are about ready to go at anytime. have your bags packed!! Good luck.

It is different for every woman and ever child birth that they go through. I was dilated to a 2 from 36th week on three of my children. I didn't dilated on my third child. They had to induce labor. My third delivery was the longest and hardest.

The sperm is a commonplace scientific element to start exertions, no longer a fantasy in any respect. that's a commonplace scientific actuality to be secure, yet whilst your healthcare expert thinks that your sac has broken then it ought to reason an infection interior the sac itself and to the toddler, yet whilst purely dilated is unquestionably secure as that's no longer meaning that the sac is open purely the cervix is beginning that's a very diverse "compartment" all mutually. With my first baby I was 4cm dilated at 36 weeks and delivered three days before my due date. I'm 37 weeks pregnant with my second and I'm not dilated yet. So...it all depends. Everyone and every pregnancy is totally different. good luck.

Boy I sure wish we could get an accurate time on that one. But, everyone is different. I, myself was in labor over 32 hours and only dialated 5 cm, after that I grabbed the doctor's necktie pulled him to my face and told him to take my child out. Now my cousin was in labor for only 1 hour and out came the baby. There is really no accurate time once you start to dialate, it all depends on the baby inside how badly they want to come out (so to speak).
