My internet connection is fine...i have an exteral modem and router... the ISP is DSL and they have hooked it up. they provided the router and modem so i'd think its the right one to keep up to speed. My friends are also with DSL and download up to 150kbs!! why is it just me.. ive opened up ports on the router and ive even turned off Windows firewall for a few tests. My internet says the speed is 100mbps.. same as my buddy who's getting 150 kbs download speed....what can i do ??

Hi. You need an accurate test to determine actual speed. One good site is http://www.pcpitstop.com/ They will test and make recommendations to improve your speed. There are plenty of others. Good luck!

Download speed also depends upon the server at the other end. If they have a high traffic volume then you can experience very slow download speeds.

100mbps is not your actual download speed it is the speed your ethernet card can hande. other than that call your isp.

That is actually about average. Actually, it is a bit above average. The source can be the problem. Don't always blame your ISP>
