Is there any way to format an external HDD so that it will work on the 360 for game save storage/ect.? As it is, it will only read music files from the PC, and won't allow games to be saved onto it.

No, you can not use an external hard drive to do this. The only option that you have for an external hard drive is to play any compatible music of movie files on it.

I know there was something released to allow you to use your computer for saved games, but I dont think it worked on external hard drives. I guess if you had that product you could move them to the hard drive, but you can not directly load or save to that drive.
