I found out I was pregnant on Halloween and nothing has gone right since! I started thinking about baby names about a week ago and for some reason Alexander really stuck out in my head for a boy. I haven't really thought about girl names, but we decided on Hannah Diane. For some reason, my fiancee doesn't want to name the baby Alexander, but all the names he has suggested I don't like either. He claims I don't like any names other than Alexander, but thats not true. I wouldn't mind if we named him Adrian or Kieran. I really like those names too. We just can't compromise on this and I need help!

Anybody have any suggestions or advice? I mean I can't name the baby something only I like. We have to agree on a name but it feels like thats never going to happen...

Have you and your husband each make a list of the names you like. If you love a name, but he doesn't, etc., ask why he doesn't like it and see if you can find something similar together.

Hannah Diane is beautiful.:)

My suggestions for boy names:

Xander Adrian
Xander Kieran
Adrian Connor
Gunnar Kieran
Adam Alexander

Also, know it's okay if you suddenly decide you hate Hannah Diane or any other name and change your mind. Have a few names ready, and see what he or she feels like to you when they arrive.

Congratulations, and I hope this helps. :)

You could use Alexander as a middle name. I think Kieran is a cute name so how about Kieran Alexander? Here are some other names that go great with Alexander as the middle name:
Cason Alexander
Hayden Alexander
Parker Alexander
Trenton Alexander
Nathan Alexander
Cooper Alexander
Bradyn Alexander
Tyson Alexander

One thing that might help is getting a baby name book and you and your fiance can sit down together and discuss what names you both like.

You still have plenty of time... I would recommend each of you seperately writing out a list of boy names that you like. Then, sweitch lists. Each of you pick 5 or so off the other persons list that you will really consider. Keep going back and forth til you have a short list that you both like. Then just worry about it when the baby is born, he might look just like one of the names on the list!

Good luck to you! I personally like Alexander :) Don't forget, there is always the middle name spot if your husband really doesn't like it as a first name.

Go with something a little less stuffy, like Matthew or Lucas. Alexander might be the name of the kid that bullied him in grade school, or something like that. And Adrian & Kieran sound very feminine. That may be why he doesn't like those.

I suggest you two pick an evening, sit down with a baby book or go to babynames.com and find something together.

Good luck & Congratulations!

Relax, you apparently have plenty of time to figure this out. You can also get an ultasound soon and find out if you even need to pick out a boys name.

Both parents need to really like the name.

I'd suggest getting some information on popular names in your area. You might like "Adrian" only to find out that 1 in 5 boys in your city is getting that name lately.

Also,in my opinion, Alexander is a horrible name, but it doesn't matter what I think. What your husband/fiance thinks does matter.

Why don't you tell him that he can make a list of 5 boys names and you will make a list of 5 boys names and then switch lists and each of choose the top 2 from eachothers list. Then you have it down to 4 names and you can just start thinking about middle names to match each first name and try to find out all the possible ways kids can make fun of the names you have chosen and it will just work itself out. When choosing my sons names, I wanted to make sure there were no ways to tease them about the name and I wanted to make sure that if they decide they don't like their name, they could use their initials as a name so I came up with Chance Jacob or CJ and Dylan James or DJ.

I don't like Adrian or Kieran. I do like Alexander though. I do like Hannah Also. That is a really pretty name to me! I also wanted to use Hannah but hubby didn't like it, so I know what you mean about trying to agree on names.
Good luck with whatever you choose & good luck with your pregnancy also!! :)

Colin is a terrible name. Might as well name him butt hole. The large intestine is named colon.

This shows you need to be careful in choosing a name.

Can't go wrong with Robert or Tyler or Justin or David or Roger.

It also depends on what last name and what middle name he will have. Initials can sometimes turn out to be in bad taste.

Just don't name him Drew Peacock.

It feels like it will never happen, but it eventually will. My husband and I took a while to finally agree on a girls name. He never liked anything I liked and I thought he would never agree on anything. It finally happened. Dont worry about it. If he likes Kieran, that is a cute name. Kieran Alexander

Talk it out! I had the same issue with the same name !!! I wanted Donald Alexander or Joshua Alexander. He hated them. He came up with 3 and I did also. Then over time we narrowed down to Brandon Lee.. Compromise.. Both of you will think of something that you like.. You have plenty of time before having to narrow it down to a girl or boy!! CONGRATS !!!!
