1. 7f x 2g = 7 x 2 x f x g = 14 x f x g =14fg
2. 7f + 2g = 7f + 2g
3. 2p x 4 p² = 2 x 4 x p x p² = 8p³
4. 2p + 4p² = 2p(1 + 2p) or could be left as 2p + 4p²

NB in algebra
Addition is shown as ' a + b = a + b'
Subtraction is shown ' a - b = a - b'
Multiplication is shown as 'a x b = ab'
Division is shown as 'a divided by b = a/b'
