there are eye creams out there that can help. oil of olay makes a good eye cream for that. as for the puffiness immediately, try the following:
cold cucumber or tea bags (save your tea bags after you use them and put them in the firdge...green tea is all the beauty rage these days)
put your eye cream in the fridge. the coldness will help reduce the puffiness
preperation h. it sounds weird but beauty pageants and runways have been using it for years.

I had bags too and I spent big bucks on creams and even tried Preparation H but nothing helped. I saw a doctor and my bags were hereditary. My mother has them. So I bit the bullet and had an upper and lower eyelift, it cost me about $3000 total a lot less than what I'd spent over the years in creams. Now I have no bags and I'm happy I was able to have the procedure. It was almost painless and the scars are hardly visible. But if yours are from a lack of sleep or too much salt or alcohol then try to get more rest and adjust your diet. If not if you're not afraid save up the money and see a good plastic surgeon, if you're near Alexandria, LA, Dr. Sozen is highly recommended 318-4 73-9003.

Preperation H is the best. It's purpose is to reduce swelling so you can dab a little under your eyes and watch what happens. Also, ice reduces swelling so take two tablespoons and put them into the freezer for a few minutes and then put the back of the spoon over your eye for a minute.

Egg white works for me, all you need to do is get egg white and spread it over your eyes, then lie down and let it dry. After its dry, wash off with warm water...I've done this many times, and it works. Also, spreading egg white over skin really makes it smooth. Placing cold cucumber slices over eyes works too, and avoid drinking water before bedtime.

boy - I am right there with you! I think I have tried every possible day and night cream on the market. (along with concealer).
I am putting this on my watch list to see what others suggest.
p.s. I have heard on talk show that Preparation H works - but I just can't bring myself to try that LOL!
