Their murder rate was among the highest in the country per capita, pre-Katrina, and it appears it's getting that way again.

The only corelation is that when a large % of the population left, there were fewer murders. Makes sense because 100% of all murders are committed by humans.

I think that is does not have anything to do with each other. I feel its happening all over this country but New Orleans happens to get alot of media attention since Katrina hit there. Hopefully the people that live there would have enough compassion for each other to stop all the violence happening there.

No, and the crime rate went up in Houston,Texas where most of the refugees went.
