My only knowledge of zombies comes from reading Laurell Hamilton books, and it seems to me zombies have a difficult time appearing normal or keeping their bodies together when they rise from the grave. In that case, the middle of the lake might be a safe place, since by the time they reached you, there would be very little of their body left. Still, you might want to have some kind of alarm system, just in case. Waking up and seeing the head of a zombie next to me might be enough to do me in.

No Zombies can't swim due to the fact that they no longer use there lungs, lungs act like a balloon to keep us afloat when we are in the water. With out lungs Zombies just sink like a rock however this doesn't stop them as they can walk along the lake bed or ocean floor, but Zombies in general have bad eye sight and if they were underwater the murky water would make them completely blind.

Depends on how much of a "zombie" are they.
Most "zombie" people have little or no higher brain function so they would have little body movement.
If you are thinking of movie type zombies:
The classic mummy/zmobie (moving at a slow walk) even if they got into the water, you would have enough time to finish relaxing in the sun and still be able to get away.
If thinking the "Resident Evil" or "Dawn of the Dead" types who can move at normal speed ... it won't matter if you are on a raft, they will just chase you until you tire out.

Mmm, I don't think they have to swim.

I think they just wade in, walk across the bottom, and come out the other side.

How deep is your lake?

They might be able to operate simple boats, though...

They can't reelly swim, but they float reel good. Next week they'll be graduating to kickboards.

Dragon is berry proud. It has only taken them 37 years to learn this.
