First, what is meant by "playing"? You must be specific to get a clear answer. If he talks to the doll as if Barbie is real and believes the inanimate object is so, it would say that he has a problem differentiating reality from fantasy. Does he have a disability that limits his mental capacity? Is he doing so in relation to the pleasing of a child or children? Do you know anything about the hobby of doll collecting? Both genders with education levels equal to or greater than your own comb, dress, and pose dolls for business, fun, or both. What some might consider as play may in fact not be correct. I am a collector of many things. It matters not to me the opinion of those who do not personally know me. Therefore, the broad answers that may be deemed as sharp criticism are of little irritation. They are assuming what your question is making reference to in accordance with their own perception of acceptable or unacceptable behavior. Consequently, it is of only with conjecture to which I supply this answer. Do you make this question with desire to acquire a similar response that you deem correct? Two individuals may look at the same abstract painting and have very different views. One may see only an unorganized work of chaos. The other a work of genius. Which one is right? The painting is in the art gallery. The dis player and the buyer see its value unlike the criticizer.

Playing with his kids, no problem
otherwise, serious problems. Is Barbie his girlfriend, 'cause he is not getting a real one playing with dolls.

It would really depend on what you mean by playing...

I'm a doll collector and have male friends who are too. We "play" with our dolls by dressing them, doing hair, setting up scenes for pictures, it's a perfectly normal thing for doll collectors to do.

If he's playing with his little girl, it's perfictly fine, but if this man in question happens to OWN this barbie doll....then you know there is something wrong here!

It all depends on what he's doing with them. If its all harmless, then, i dont think there's an immediate problem but he doesnt seem to want to let go of childhood.

As long as he or she is playing along with a child to entertain them.
