MD, DO , Ed.D, Psy.D or Ph.D, Pharm.D.....it goes on and on. Which career field are you asking about? Many require a bachelors then 3-5 years of schooling with additional years for internships or residencies. Always pick an accredited school and look at the schools demographics...how many graduate, where they work now...etc....Good Luck!

It depends on what kind of doctor you want to be. Four years of college, 4 years of med school, then an internship/residency. A pediatrician needs to take 3 years I think. So total, it's like 11-12 years. Check to see the school's acceptance rate into med school. Make sure they have a pre-med program. You don't have to go Ivy League to be a doctor. Talk to people, and pick the school that works best for you.

Here (in Canada) applicants for medical school usually have at least a BA in one of the applicable sciences...many have a BSc. This takes 3 years. Med school is 4 years...with a one year internship at the end of that. If you wish to specialize it can be anywhere from 2-5 years after internship.

In most cases it will be 10+ years. 4 years undergrad., 4-5 years med school, 2-3 years internship and an additional 2-3 years if you choose a specialization such as cardiology or plastic surgery. This profession is no joke and is the highest paying professions outside of entertainment (music, sports, etc.)
