Google is the least effective search I have seen, and the most annoying. I have closed and cancelled it from my computer, but when I type in a web sites name, google opens with a 'can't find', followed by advertising, followed by the name of the site I want, exactly as I entered it. (the sooner everyone discovers how useless google is and they go bankrupt, the happier I'll be.)

I'm not a Google fan either, but I think it has its place.
At any rate, if you're running XP, below are instructions on how to change your default internet search engine. It seems that somehow Google must have been identified as the default...just re-select Yahoo.
To change the default Internet search service
When you search the Internet, you can choose the default search service you want Search Companion to use.
Click Start, point to Search, and then click For Files or Folders.
Click Change preferences.
Click Change Internet search behavior.
In Select the default search engine, click the name of the search service you want Search Companion to use by default.
Notes
The option to change Internet search behavior might not be available in your language version. If it is not, you can change the default Internet search service by clicking Start, clicking Search, clicking Search the Internet, and then clicking Customize.

If you are using internet explorer ( groans out loud ) go to the help option in the menu bar at the top of an open internet explorer window and do a search on the word 'reset' which should provide you with the answers.

seeing as Google is not the most annoying and least effective (its actually teh most efficient and effective search engine on the net) - Aol Search and Ask.com are the most ineffective search engines right now.
Only people who dont know how to use google , find it useless.

you might have a google toolbar that you need to uninstall from your computer. Go to start- my computer- control panel- add remove programs. See if there is anything that has the name google and uninstall it.
