An active-X control is an executable just like any other program that you download. And just like any other downloaded program, active-X can be used for good or bad.

Some active-X can deliever to your computer spyware and adware.

Only let active-X be downloaded from reputable websites that you trust 110% and never allow any active-X control to be downloaded that is not "Signed".

When a site needs to install an ActiveX control, a yellow bar will drop below the IE toolbar. Click on the yellow bar, in a couple of seconds a box will appear, click Install.

To make sure you computer is not blocking ActiveX, go to Tools>Internet Options>Security tab>click the Default button to put all the setting to the default settings.

If it appears from a bar on the top of the screen, just click Install and then run in the run prompt.
