I have heard that the cheaper beauty items are the exact same thing as more costly beauty items - do you use any of these particular low cost items that you would swear by and rather use than the more costly brands?

Suave hairspray and mousse for your hair.
They also have a root lifter spray.
They are comparable to the Matrix brand which is by far
more expensive.
as for facial wash Jergens or St Ive's products are also reasonably priced and work well.

Sonia Kashuk's line of makeup & makeup products (brushes, etc.) at Target is a MUST HAVE-- she has the same cheek stains as Tarte at half the price, which are so much more natural than any other blush I've ever tried. I also love Maybelline mascaras-- I won't tell you which one is for you, because everyone's lashes have different needs, but they have a mascara for every need/occasion, and they WORK! No one can tell that I'm actually wearing makeup! Glamour magazine has an annual poll that runs through the "best of" for beauty products that tells the best of the store brands and the best of the high end products for pretty much everything women use.

I'm a dept store makeup kinda gal. I've tried both and always go back to the more expensive stuff. Mac and Clinique are the cheapest. But the one thing I do get from Rite-Aid is Physicians Formula Bronzer. They have a lot of different ones but I get the one with the sunflower on it. If you get any other makeup make sure its oil-free hypoallergenic and non-comedegenic. If it doesn't say it on the package then its not. Loreal is a sister company of Lancome so I guess that's the closest you'll get to dept. store in a drug store.

My absolute must-have cheaper brand is Alpha-Hydrox. I will always use it. I've been using it for over 15 years and I don't have a line, wrinkle, blemish, age spot, or discoloration on my face and I'm 39 years old. I use all of the less expensive cleansers and shampoos and beauty products. I go for the ones that smell good and are formulated for my hair/skin type. I like Oil of Olay, Suave, Dove, etc. All are good and a matter of preference. I've used the expensive brands and although they are good they aren't better. So I've decided not to spend my hard earned money on the expensive brands and now I buy the less expensive brands and my skin has never look better.

I am usually a firm believer in "you get what you pay for, " but even I recognize that there are some exceptions. I really like Wal-Mart brand astringent, acne cream, and antibachterial body wash.
Taret also had some really good products. You have to experiment.

I use Equate's version of facial cleanser rather than Neutrogena; I have used and love Neutrogena, but the price was more than I could afford so I started using Equate's version and it works just as well.
