happy new year all! i have a CANON BJC-250 Color Bubble Jet Printer and Windows 97, i have a color cartridge on it but it won't print in color. i go to printers>properties, but there is no color or black&white option. any ideas anyone?

Old Windows might have something to do with it, printers aren't my forte though.
My second guess is you might not have a color cartridge in that's full? Or maybe not inserted properly? If the printer is only seeing that a Black cartridge is properly inserted, then the option to change colors will not be provided (at least that's how it works in my version of Windows).

Look up your printer on google - it might require an old driver being as your using Win 97.

look in print setup,
where you check landscape/portrait and papers size
