I have a report that I believe was created using Visual FoxPro. There seem to be four associated files, nonp.frt, nonp.frx, nonp.fxp and nonp.prg.

The text I need to change is in nonp.frt. I made a backup copy and tried changing it with Notepad, but that made the file unusable. As a test, I opened a fresh copy with Notepad again and saved it without making any changes at all, and it still corrupted the file.

Is there a way to edit the text in this report without corrupting it or shelling out for developers software?

First answerer provided several great programs if I needed access to .dbf files, but I couldn't get any of them to open a .frt file.

frt and frx are extensions of report files (actual report file and compiled file)
prg is a program file
fxp is a complied version

it is not possible to edit the report with out having visual foxpro.
suppose if u know any other report writer like crystal reports or vb report writer, then u can google for frx2any website, get the free tool, convert this frt and frx into vb reprot writer or crystal reports and edit using that.

best is get visual foxpro and edit.

if not possible send me the report and tell me what has to be changed in a mail, i will change it and send it across to you.

i am a visual foxpro programmer.

Opening it with notepad will corrupt the file. You need a program that can read/edit DBF format files.

Try one of the sites I have listed for a cheap or free tool to do it with.

Try opening the FRX file. One of my co-workers was telling me the FRT is not the DBF. Also try renaming the FRT to DBF. If that doesnt work try renaming the FRX.

Give it a shot if that doesn't work tomorrow morning I will try something and give you another suggestion.
