Hello All! Ok Long story... My husband and I are ttc, I just stopped taking the pill near the end of Dec. I have been on the pill for the last 10 years and I went though the stages of ovulation a week ago. My breasts are now killing me (it feels like somebody is poking me with needles ever 2 seconds) and they are really (noticeably) swollen. I really doubt that this is a pregnancy symptom (too soon), I am thinking these pains are happening because this is the first time I have ovulated in 10 years. My coworker suggested a sleep bra. Has anyone ever tried one and does it help??? Is there any advice anyone can offer???? Thanks!!!

After 10 years upsetting your hormonal balance with the pill, it will take a bit for things to settle down. I would suggest some very gentle massage, and hot and cold to try to increase the circulation to the breast. The sleep bra might help by supporting, etc, but that would restrict the circulation, which is in general not good. The question comes back to the balance between estrogen and progesterone, (and is somewhat affected by which of the family of hormones you have used, and so what the balance is) and if it is too unbearable you might need to try to find a competent doctor to check your hormone balance. (good luck) The book (Prescription for nutritional healing) which is quite available, at libraries and health food stores would suggest some herbs and nutritional changes you could make to aid your body in finding a more comfortable balance.

Your breast need to be free of any bra, so they can "breath", use a heating pad on them before bed, take some advil for the pain. And when you see your doctor, let me know, this could be a side effect from the pill you took for 10 years to leave your system.

The reason you are hurting is b/c you have quit the pill. I went through the same thing. Sleep bra should help.

I still sleep in my old Maternity tank tops (the spaghetti strap kind with the built in shelf-bra). They are longer and looser around the waist (obviously) and fantastic!
