Literally an advocate is some who speaks for another ( I took too much Latin ) anyone who stands up for another is an advocate. I take it you mean defence attorney. The rules vary from state to state some require almost a phd, others let anyone write the bar exam and some very bright lawyers are self taught. Contact your local bar association

It depends on what type of advocate he wants to be. I intend on getting into Family Advocacy and recently looked on Monster.com just to see what the job outlook was. In most places that employ advocates, an AA is all that is needed. I'm almost finished with my BA so I should be very ready for a position.

Depends on what type of advocate you are referring to. You should be able to get a job as a woman's advocate right now by volunteering in a victims program.
