Okay my laptop is old and I need to know a way to fix it. The person that gave me the laptopm reformatted it but never fixed the problem. So all it does at the moment is start up and go to the command screen the last windows on it was windows98 (if it matters) so I need to know how to get it back to where it works.

Sounds like it's is running but just running DOS instead of windows. Get a Windows98 install disk, you should be able to get one at the flea market or somewhere. Install and it will be a running W98 PC.

It sounds as if the last person reformatted it and installed DOS.
You will need to install an operating system, such as XP. If they gave you a restore disk, pop it into the CD-ROM drive and follow directions. If you don't have a restore disk, you'll have to obtain a disk elsewhere; try e-bay.

here are the steps:
1) fly to new york city
2) take a taxi to the empire state building
3) go to the top of the building
4) throw it all the way down
5) come pick it up..
and walaa its fixed..
