I started the nuvaring this month after my period came almost 2 weeks last month to regulate it. I started itching really bad a few days ago to relieve it and now I have about 7 painful bumps in the folds of my vagina. i was on a steroid bout a week ago, could this be a yeast infection from that? ive been on the nuvaring before so i dont think its from that. its extrememly painful i can barely walk. i DO NOT have an std. so please no answers like that

Taking antibiotics or steroids could definitely be a culprit for a vaginal yeast infection.

When it is extremely painful like you have described (burning, itching on the inside of the vagina) it sounds like a bad yeast infection. I have had symptoms similar to these where I didn't want to get out of bed because it hurt so badly, and it was just a bad yeast infection. The doctor gave me an oral medication (Diflucan) and some cream for the burning and it went away within a week.

Hope you feel better!

i know steriod do trigger yeast infections and birth control pills can too. now if these 7 bumps are really small then they can be caused by yeast infections. however, with yeast infection comes discharge which u fail to mention if there is any. if ya symptoms are other than these get checked by a doc. also for yeast infections, u can go to a doc too or get monistat from pharmacy or something.

It is maybe a yeast infection, but it could be a sebaceous cyst. It's basically an irritaed hair follicle or sweat gland. I've had them before and they HURT. They can go away on there own, but if they don't see your doc.. Try some vagisil for immediate releif. it may be corny and a little embarrassing, but the sh*t works!. Stereoids don't usually cause yeast infections, but Antibiotics do.

It sounds like it could be a yeast infection. But, if they are large bumps, might be worth a doctor's visit just to make sure it isn't something more serious. Best of Luck!

You probably have a severe allergic reaction to the new NuvaRing. Try reading up on this at http://www.fda.gov/medwatch.

You should seek medical attention right away.
