The largest animal which has ever lived is the Blue Whale.
EDIT: No I'm not wrong, according to what scientists know the blue whale is bigger than any other animal discovered. There is one dinosaur, the Bruhathkayosaurus, which may have been longer than the Blue Whale but equal in terms of mass. There is uncertainty surrounding its size so at this point in time the Blue Whale is the largest animal known.

Currently, the Blue Whale holds that mark ... but historically, Diplodocus had edged out the Blue Whale in size and mass, which is impressive since this was a land animal vice a water-dwelling organism (since water is crucial is weight support and displacement distribution for locomotion).
